Obituary of Ruth J. Barrett

Bedford – Ruth J. Barrett, 86, of Bedford, passed away at 8:56 am on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at I.U. Health Bedford Hospital. Born August 16, 1937, in Lawrence Co., she was the daughter of Leo Edmond and Ruth Waneta (Hunter) Holland. She married Byron O. Barrett on November 27, 1955, and he preceded her in death on December 15, 2009. She was a homemaker and member of the Guthrie Christian Church where she served in the Ladies Aid Society and was a Sunday School teacher. She enjoyed genealogy and sewing. Survivors include two sons, Edmond H. (Rebecca) Barrett and Shannon Barrett, both of Bedford; a daughter, Deeanna L. (Barry) Ray, of Bedford; two grandsons, Derek Barrett of Tennyson, IN, Brantley (Kayla) Ray, of Bedford; two granddaughters, Gina M. (John) Bennett and Breeanna (Chase) Neeley, all of Bedford; seven great-grandchildren, Breyton Ray, Kiersten Ray, Forrest Neeley, Eliza Neeley, Alex Bennett, Colton Bennett and Grace Bennett; a sister, Judith Johnson of Springville. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Friday, December 15th at the Guthrie Christian Church with Brandt Kimmell officiating. Burial will follow in the Clover Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, December 14th and from 9:00 am until the hour of service on Friday all at the Guthrie Christian Church.
