Obituary of Dorothy Edith Lyons

Bedford Dorothy Edith Lyons, 76, of 709 V Street, Bedford, died at 7:11 pm on Wednesday, May 17, 2006 at the Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born July 11, 1929 in Chicago, IL, she was the daughter of Anthony and Anna Ruth Russo. She married David Stanley Lyons on March 5, 1949 and he preceded her in death on December 19, 1998. She was the office manager for the Ingalls Stone Co. and later for Harding-Cogswell Stone Co. She was a member of the Old Union Christian Church. Dorothy was an avid shopper and the best bargain hunter in Lawrence County. She could always find the best deals. Survivors include two daughters, Marsha Kern and her husband, Robert A. of Bedford and Valerie Hester of Crawfordsville, IN; seven grandchildren, Jeremy Hester, Natalie Breedlove, Shelly Hamm, Bambie Breedlove, Amber Kern, Bobby Kern and Robby Kern; ten great grandchildren, Bradley Harrington, Sage Breedlove, Jade Breedlove, Daven Lindley, Blake Kern, Haeven Breedlove, David Hamm, Kerrigan Kern, Benson Hester and Harmonie Breedlove; two sisters, Ruby Nichols and Kaye Selvaggio both of Chicago Heights, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters, Jenny Russo, Josephine Tallamonti and Marie Arcaris. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 20th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor David Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, May 19th and from 10:00 am until the hour of service on Saturday, May 20th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
