Obituary of Janice K. Hedrick

Bedford- Janice K. Hedrick, 82, of Bedford, passed away Friday, October 6, 2023, at StoneBridge Health Campus surrounded by her loved ones. Born July 2, 1941, in Lawrence County IN, she was the daughter of Nova T. and Ruby (Hines) Hensley. Janice owned Classic Cuts Salon for many years, and later retired from Indiana Gas as a line surveyor. She was a graduate of Oolitic High School Class of 1959. She was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Delta Sigma Kappa Sorority, and American Legion Auxiliary. Janice loved spending time with her family and friends. She especially enjoyed riding around on her golf cart and socializing with friends at Wildridge RV Resort. Survivors include her companion of 31 years Jimmie Goins of Bedford; her children, son Joel Scott Hatfield of Bedford, daughter Susan (Hatfield) Hammond and husband Gary of Bedford; grandchildren Michael Hatfield and wife Brittney of Bloomington and Rhett Hensley of Bloomington; great-grandchildren Cooper, Dax, and Molly Hatfield of Bloomington. Janice was proceeded in death by her parents, three sisters Norma Bagby, Wilma Byers, and Irene Murray, and two brothers Roger and Wendell Hensley. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Father Jegan Peter and Deacon Dave Reising officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the hour of service on Wednesday at the Day & Carter Mortuary. In lieu of flowers the family asks that friends consider memorial contributions be made to the Disabled American Veterans or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Family and friends may express condolences at www.daycarter.com. The family would like to thank StoneBridge Health Campus and Southern Care Hospice staff for the care they provided to Janice.
