Needmore Alumni Association posted a condolence

There will always be an empty chair for Norma at our alumni banquets. She was an ardent supporter of the alumni and could always be counted on to muster up her class of 1946 to be well represented at the banquet. To know her was to love her and to be loved right back...

I remember your Mom as being so kind to me when I was a very young mother of three children. She was very friendly and encouraging to me when we were members of the First Baptist Mothers Club. She will be missed by many.

Polly and Bill,
I can't remember the last time I saw you Bill - it's been so long. I haven't seen you, Polly, since we lived in the Colony in Indianapolis.
Sue and I both love you guys and your family. Your mother was a very intelligent, funny, and loving woman who didn't suffer fools gladly. Some of the funniest memories I have are from when she was aggravated with someone. You never knew what she was going to say.
Back when I was screwing up and getting in trouble, many people wrote me off prematurely, but not your mom. She picked me up and gave me a ride one day when I was walking home. The whole way, she was telling me what a good kid I was, and that I was just going through a rebellious period, and if I'd simply adjust my attitude a little, everything would be better. She truly cared about me, and her words had a definite impact on me. We can all only hope that our children know someone like Norma.
God Bless You All, Don

Polly & Bill, I'm not sure you remember us, but we remember you both growing up. Norma was a very special lady in the life of FBC and a very special lady to me. She was at Dunn Memorial when my dad came in as a patient. She treated him like a king, and I will always have a special place in my heart for her. You have our thoughts and love. Mary Helen

I'm so sorry to hear that Norma passed away. She was such a great person, a wonderful babysitter and neighbor, and I always loved going to her house. The picture is just as I remember her opening the door to greet me and my sister, Jonetta, with as much love and enthusiasm as if she were our own grandmother. We looked forward to knocking on her door at Halloween, because there was always something special! She had such a presence and she will be very much missed by all of us whose lives she touched. My thoughts are with you, Polly & Billy.

My comdolences to Norma's family. It seems like I knew Norma all of my life. She was a nurse for Dr. Allen and she lived in the 1600 block of 24th just a few doors from Dr. Allen's office. I lived just 1 block west. So, Norma was a neighbor and a friend. Now she's moving on to a better world where she will once again have her eyesight and know no pain. She will also be reunited with many friends who have gone before her. So, farewell Norma until we meet again.
