Obituary of Johann Marie Klumpp

Johann Marie Klumpp, age 91, passed away on Friday May 12th •at Stonebridge Health Campus in Bedford, following a decade-long struggle with advanced dementia related issues. On July 23, 1931 she was born the first child of Salvatore (South) and Ada J. (Shields) Bellush. She graduated from Bedford High School in 1949 and worked at M Fine & Sons for a few years after graduating. Johann was married to Gus Klumpp on July 25, 1952 and he preceded her in death during their 49th year of marriage on October 20, 2000. She never remarried. She was a homemaker and stay-at-home Mom for her three sons most of her life, but did return to the workforce after her youngest reached adolescence; working for 12 years as a member of the office staff at the Kaiser Aluminum Plants in both Bedford and Mitchell, She and a few of her closest high school friends formed a group that they called the '49 Club', which at its peak boasted more than 50 members. The ladies met monthly at a different member's home each month for a ladies night-in gathering. They played numerous card and board games, served refreshments, awarded door prizes and stayed connected enjoying fellowship and camaraderie. The '49 Club' before it was ended had lasted for slightly more than 40 years. Johann also enjoyed her participation in women's bowling leagues at Brunswick Bowl in Bedford for several years and also became involved with the ladies' auxiliary at the Thornton Memorial Boys' Club of Bedford. Mrs. Klumpp is survived by three sons who all still reside in Bedford. They are David (Diane), Kevin (Nancy) and Joe. Also surviving are her grandchildren - Chelsea (Alex Bryantsev) of Ashville, NC - who gave Johann her first great-grandchild just 14 months - Baby Scarlett Marie Bryantsev. Her other two grandchildren are Miles Klumpp (Madyson) of Bedford and Atalie Klumpp who resides in Bloomington. Two of her four siblings also survive. Jerri Anderson (Bill) and Jim Bellush both of Bedford. Survivors also include several nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews on the Bellush side of the family. She was preceded in death by her parents & husband. Also, preceding her in death was her brother John "Buck" Bellush and sister Janet "Wass" Bellush as well as two sisters-in-law Becky and Diane Bellush. Karl F. Klumpp, Jr (twin brother of her husband Gus) and his two sons, her nephews Steve and Brad Klumpp also passed prior to her. Also, her best friend and eventual sister-in-law Rheadawn (Browning) Klumpp passed away at the tender age of 45 on July 3, 1976. Johann was all about her family, which was and is very close. She couldn't be and do enough for her loving family. She will be remembered as a very proud and selfless lady who would smother one with kindness anytime she had an opportunity. Funeral services for Johann Marie Klumpp will be conducted on Thursday, May 18th at 1:00 PM in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Charlie Scott officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until time of service. Her final resting place will be at Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Her sons ask that in lieu of flowers, donations in their mother's memory be made to the White River Humane Society. Family and friends may express condolences at www.daycarter.com.
