Obituary of Marvin Alan Stahl

Bedford – Marvin Alan Stahl, 94, of Bedford, passed away at 10:36 am on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his family. Born May 31, 1928, in Mt. Hope, WV, he was the son of Hubert J. and Sadie (Loving) Stahl. He married Patricia Ann Carr in 1954 and she preceded him in death on November 24, 2019. Alan graduated from Montgomery High School in Montgomery, WV, where he was president of his class and the editor of the school yearbook. He attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute from 1946 to 1950, graduating with a degree in Industrial Engineering. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving from 1950 to 1952 with the Army Corps of Engineers and stationed at Ft. Scott in California and in Alaska. Following his military service, he moved to Cincinnati, OH and was employed as plant supervisor with the Fiberglass Evercoat and Shulte Brass Companies of Cincinnati. He moved to Bedford in 1970, where he was employed as plant manager with Kaiser Aluminum. He started his own companies in Bedford and Mitchell, Samco in 1974, and AKKA Plastics in 1982. He remained owner and president of both companies until his passing. He enjoyed golf, his dog, coffee, family vacations, I.U. Hoosier basketball, and Virginia Tech football. Survivors include a daughter, Kevin Ann Stahl, of Scottsdale, AZ; two granddaughters, Jessica Ann Stahl and Tricia Lee Stahl; one grandson, Stone Alan Tripp Stahl. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Patricia Stahl and a son, Alan Kent Stahl. A memorial service will be conducted at 6:00 pm on Thursday, May 18th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary.
