Obituary of George Richard Adams

Bedford - George Richard Adams, 79, passed away on April 6, 2023 at his home. Born October 16, 1943 in Bedford, he was the son of Paul and Olga (Peyton) Adams. He married Patricia Givens Shaver on June 27, 1975 and she survives. A life-long member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, he graduated from Bedford High School in 1962, served in the Indiana National Guard, was a member of the American Legion Gillen Post 33, and retired in 2001 from General Motors with 38 years of service. In addition to his wife, Pat Adams, he is survived by their son, Steve Adams and his husband David Sipes; grandchildren Alex Adams and his wife Tori, Avery Adams, Emily Sipes and her daughter Emma, and Alli Braitling and her husband Robby; sister-in-law Joanne Adams; nieces Kim Adams and Carol Lewis and her husband Hillard. He was preceded in death by his brother Paul Michael Adams and their parents. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, April 15 at 1:00 pm at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Bedford with Father Jegan Peter officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church from 11:30 am until the start of the Rosary at 12:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either the Men’s Warming Shelter or Becky’s Place Women and Children’s Shelter, both located in Bedford. Arrangements are under the direction of Day & Carter Mortuary and online condolences may be expressed at www.daycarter.com where there is a memorial video available for viewing.
