Bedford – Phillip New, 75, of Bedford, passed away on Friday, February 24, 2023 at I.U. Health Bloomington Hospital.

Born February 9, 1948, in Somerset, KY, he was the son of Noble New and Rowena Brammer. He graduated from Oolitic High School with the class of 1966. He later married the love of his life, Linda Horner and she preceded him in death. He retired from NWSC Crane and was a caregiver to disabled young men. He was a devoted member of the Church of Christ in Oolitic.

Survivors include his daughter, Misty Sheetz; three granddaughters, Jessica Hackney, Camysha New and Destiny New; ten great-grandchildren, Arianna, Jaycie, Jayston, Hunter, Liam, Amiyah, Madilynn, Ezekiel, Aveyah, and Emberlynn. He was preceded in death by his parents, Noble and Rowena; his wife, Linda; a daughter, Cheryl New; grandchildren, Chelsee New, Tyler Meeks-New, and Hope New.

Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 pm on Thursday, March 2nd in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Walter Hunter officiating. Burial will follow Pinhook Cemetery.
