Obituary of Dennis Lee Phillips

Orleans – Dennis Lee Phillips, 65, of Orleans, passed away, after a brief illness, at 10:42 pm on Sunday, February 26, 2023, at I.U. Health Hospice House. Born August 25, 1957, in Bedford, he was the son of Homer and Delores (Flynn) Phillips. He was an advanced EMT at Dunn Memorial Hospital. He was a volunteer fire fighter and a carpenter-contractor. Dennis was passionate about lending a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He was an expert wood-worker who enjoyed making miniature barns and dollhouses. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved watching Andy Griffith reruns. Survivors include his parents; a daughter, Rebecca Gulley and husband, David, of Bedford; grandchildren, Morgan, Camden, Kason, and Adelyn Gulley, and Bella and Paisley Karnes, whom he loved as his own grandchildren; a sister, Montra Myers and husband, Charles, of Bedford; a brother, Tim Phillips, of KY; nieces and nephews, Tyler Reinhardt, Christina Ward, Haleigh Phillips, Amanda Phillips and Allison Phillips. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bennie and Marie Flynn, Willie and Nancy Phillips; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 4th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Adam Strauser and Larry Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the hour of service on Saturday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
