Obituary of Richard N. Sluder

Mitchell – Richard N. Sluder, 91, of Mitchell, passed away at 5:46 pm on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at Stonebridge Health Campus. Born May 22, 1931, in Marion Co., he was the son of Keith and Marguerite (Brahaum) Sluder. He married Dorothy Ira on April 22, 1950, and she preceded him in death on October 30, 2017. He was a graduate of Shawswick High School where he was one of the first male cheerleader. He was a machine repairman at GE in Bloomington and a member of the First Baptist Church in Bedford. He enjoyed camping, fishing and was an avid bowler. He was the past president of the Night Owl Camping Club. Survivors include three sons, Richard K. Sluder and wife, Dian of Bedford, Kim E. Sluder and Timothy P. Sluder and wife, Tina, all of Mitchell; a daughter-in-law, Patty Sluder, of Bedford; ten grandchildren, Candice Schofield, Missy Collingsworth and husband, Shawn, Lara McGinness and husband, Jason, Sarah Evans and fiancé, Joe Shields, Jessica Garrard, and husband, Michael, Robin Holmes and husband, Ricky, Jennifer Sons, and husband, Greg, Erik Sluder, and wife, Tawana, Alex Sluder, Brandon Wiggington, and wife, Rosanne; several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a son, Kevin; a sister, Delores Fletcher and husband, Al; a brother, Al Todd and wife, Wilma Jean, and daughter-in-law, Julie Sluder. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Monday, February 27th at the First Baptist Church with Lee Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Leatherwood Christian Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Sunday, February 26th at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Family and friends may express condolences at www.daycarter.com.
