Bedford – Sondra L. Johnson, 88, of Bedford, passed away on Monday, December 26, 2022, at her residence.

Born May 5, 1934, in Lawrence Co., she was the daughter of Harley and Mabel (James) Ray. She married Edward McSoley in 1963 and he preceded her in death in 1993. She later married Lester Johnson in 1995 and he died in 2008. She retired from RCA where she had worked in quality control and was a member of the Donica Church of God.

Survivors include two daughters, Melanie Rainey (Lowell) and Karen Fair, all of Bedford; a son, Mike Sowder (Kim), of Oklahoma, City, OK; a step-daughter, Kathy Pearson (Stephen) of NC; grandchildren, Jason Sowder (Kate), Logan Fair (Scarlett), Joshua Sowder (Christa), Jacob Sowder (Alisa), Brian Rainey (Brian Land), and Samual Rainey; five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, two sisters, Joan Starr and Sharon Cooper; a brother, Harley Ray, Jr. (in infancy).

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Thursday, December 29th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastors Jason Walsh and Kendall Hendrickson officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the hour of service on Thursday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
