William E. "Bill" Reynolds Obituary

Bedford-William E. “Bill” Reynolds, 96, of Bedford died on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at the Mitchell Manor.

Born May 7, 1926, in Lawrence County he was the son of Charles and Iva (Srygler) Reynolds. He married Patricia M. Johnson on December 23, 1947, and she preceded him in death on July 4, 2010. He retired in 1985 from NSWC Crane as Supervisor in the Transportation Department. Bill was a U.S. Navy veteran serving as a Signalman, Second Class during WWII Pacific Theater. He was a longtime member of the Bedford Baptist Temple where he helped construct the missionary building and countless other projects in the church.

Survivors include two daughter-in-laws, Bonita Reynolds, and Suzie Reynolds; 13 grandchildren: Rusty Webb, Fina Bartlett and husband Matt, Franco Webb, Jay Webb, Benjamin Webb and wife Holly, Andrew Webb, Elisha Reynolds, Jari Reynolds, Ashley Reynolds-Raines and husband Michael, Jon Reynolds and wife Kim, Jeff Reynolds and wife Danielle, Dustin Allen, Kip Allen and wife Amy, and Wil Allen; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two daughters: Janie Webb, and Rebecca Webb; four sons, Randy “R.J.” Reynolds, Patrick Reynolds, William Reynolds II, and Auburn Reynolds; two brothers, Robert Reynolds, and Charles Reynolds; two sisters, Frances Darcius and Mary Jane Coulter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00pm on Wednesday, December 21st, 2022, in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor David Ferry officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the hour of service on Wednesday at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded by members of the American Legion Gillen Post #33. Family and friends may make contributions to the American Legion Gillen Post #33.
