East Oolitic – Rosetta M. Root, 71, of East Oolitic, passed away at 3:55 pm, on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at her residence surrounded by her loved ones.

Born April 30, 1951, in Lawrence Co., she was the daughter of Erza and Mary Etta (Sullivan) Brown. She married Paul V. Root on March 13, 1981, and he preceded her in death on September 9, 2020. She was a homemaker and enjoyed bowling, bingo, and spending time with grandchildren.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Dawn Parkes (William), of Oolitic; five grandchildren, Brittany Bailey (Jared), Danielle Rose McDonald-Reed (Josh), David Paul Key (Lexie), Austin Key, and Aron Parkes; six great-grandchildren, Kamen, Eli, Marin, Braylee, Jaxson, and Knox; daughterly nieces, Deanna Crane (Richard), of Bedford and Melissa Hamilton (Lee), of Mitchell; nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother, David Brown; two sisters, Brenda Eagan and Patty Baxter.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, September 27th in Hilltop Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 1:30 pm on Tuesday, September 27th at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Family and friends may express condolences at www.daycarter.com.
