Maxine Scherschel, 92, of Mitchell, died at 5:08 pm on Friday, August 5, 2022, at Westview Nursing and Rehab.

Born September 15, 1929, in Bedford, she was the daughter of John and Florence Mae (Easton) Curren. Maxine was a 1949 graduate from Shawswick High School. She married William Scherschel on August 10, 1949, and he preceded her in death in 1996. Maxine was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Survivors include seven children, Buddy (Kathie) Scherschel of Bedford, Dennis Scherschel of Highland, IL, Karon (Jamie) Werbin of Derby, KS, Sharon (Kenny) Shock of North Manchester, IN, Beth (Mike) Scherschel of Mitchell, Rose Scherschel, and Dianna (Bill) Duncan; twenty grandchildren; twenty- nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert (Mary) Curren of Converse, IN; and one sister-in-law, Susie Curren of Mitchell. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, six siblings, one son Anthony Scherschel, two granddaughters, one great grandson, and a daughter-in-law, Debi Scherschel(Dennis).

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Wednesday, August 10th, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mitchell. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, August 9th, at Day & Carter Mortuary. A rosary service will be conducted on Tuesday evening at 7:00 pm.
