Bedford- Floyd W. Yates, 83, of Bedford, died at 8:57 a.m. on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at Mitchell Manor Nursing Facility.


Born March 16, 1939, in Columbus, he was the son of Horace William and Minnie Faye (Hudson) Yates. He married Mary Alice Smith on March 21, 1958, and she preceded him in death on December 1, 1977. He retired from real estate sales and attended the Southland Church of Christ and Central Church of Christ.


Survivors include two sons, Rob (Carla) Yates and Darren (Ann) Yates, all of Bedford; six grandchildren, Jordan, Craig, and Chandler Yates, Hannah (Bradley) Carrico, Megan (John) Bohling, and Matthew Yates; five great-grandchildren, Cordan Short, Brienne and Bryce Carrico, Ava and Blair Bohling; two step grandchildren, Kali (Kyle) Wigley and Jodi McCain; eight step great-grandchildren, McKenzie, Keetan, Kogen, Kixton, Kove, and Kavin Wigley, Jaycelyn and Jaydelyn McCain. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a son, Tod Yates; and three sisters, Dorothy Chapman, Roberta Smith and Shirley Shenan.


Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 23rd at Green Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bedford Boys and Girls Club. Family and friends may express condolences at www.daycarter.com.
