We may not see our friends as often as we should, life & war intervenes, takes us in all different directions, although, it can not take our memories away from us. I loved my friendship with David, he always had a smile for me, he brought a calm to my world.
David had a way of always staying with you. You just knew you could trust him and be safe when he was around. He would walk into a classroom calm, quite and easy, take his seat and pay attention to every movement. I watched, just waiting for the little boy inside the teen to pull a snake out of his pocket or some other such antic of hilarious disruption, but that gleam he had in his eyes was controlled, although, he was close by when things did just happen.
My life, as well as many others, was richer and happier because David was a part of it. I am very thankful for that blessing.

My thoughts and prayers are with you, Harold and your family. David and I of course were almost constant daily companions after we moved from Crane Village to Farm House #6. Lots of great memories of us exploring the surrounding woods, playing cowboys and Indians, fishing in the pond and lots of one on one basketball each posing as our favorite player. As David gradually became better than me - taller, faster, etc - I wasn't happy because of my competitive nature but I don't remember David ever " rubbing it in! ".
Our paths went different ways and I only saw him a few times after graduating from IU, going to Vietnam and then moving to Indianapolis.
There's one thing that I know for sure : David was a gentle Soul that will be Missed !
With Love and Prayers
Mike Gallagher
