Obituary of Esther M. Lewis

Bedford Esther M. Lewis, 89, of 102 6th Street, Oolitic, IN, died at 3:30 pm pn Wednesday, October 8, 2003 at the Hospitality House in Bedford. Born May 27, 1914 in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Sam and Merlene (Blackwell) Cobb. She married Owen Wayne Lewis on March 5, 1938 and he preceded her in death. She was a homemaker and member of the Oolitic Baptist Church. Survivors include one son, Jerry W. Lewis and his wife, Kay, of Springville; two grandchildren, Jim Lewis and his wife, Debbie, of Avoca and Michael Lewis and his wife, Missi, of Oolitic; three great grandchildren, Sarah, Tyler and Allen Lewis; two sisters, Frances Stigall of Oolitic and Mary Alice Tirey of Mitchell; three nieces, Sherry Stewart and Sheila Gilbert both of Oolitic and Susan Nester of Williams; one nephew, Jack Cobb of Avoca. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers, Walter and James E. Cobb. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 11th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Richard Tallman officiating. Burial will follow at Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 10:00 am until the hour of service on Saturday, October 11th at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Pallbearers are Johnny Mike Gilbert, Jared Gilbert, Justin Gilbert, Tyler Lewis, Michael Embree, Jack Cobb, Clay Smith and Mike Gilbert.
