Obituary of Jeanne Edwards

Velma Jeanne Edwards, 96, of Bedford, died at 11:02 am on Friday, January 7, 2022, at IU Health Bedford Hospital. Born September 5, 1925, in Martin County, she was the daughter of Oscar and Bernice (Harner) Sorrells. Jeanne married Robert L. Edwards on January 8, 1944, and he preceded her in death. She was a member of the Church of the Brethren in Shoals. Survivors include two daughters, Sandra (Jerry) Waldron of Bedford, Connie Jones of Jasper; one son, Bob (Renita Brown) Edwards of Bedford; ten grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Wilma Qualkenbush of Shoals, and Marilyn Hardwick of Shoals; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother and sister in infancy, and two grandsons, Bryan Edwards and Josh Waldron. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, January 12th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in Huron Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the hour of service on Wednesday, January 12th at the Day & Carter Mortuary. The family requests that everyone in attendance to please wear a mask.
