Obituary of James E. Ellison

Indianapolis- James E. Ellison, 55, of Indianapolis, formerly of Bedford, died at his residence on December 20, 2021. Born September 25, 1966, in Bedford, he was the son of James and Beth (Tumey) Ellison. He attended school at Stalker Elementary, Bedford Jr. High, and graduated from Bedford North Lawrence with the class of 1985. He attended Indiana University School of Business and graduated with the class of 1989, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree. He married Julie Cracraft on June 16, 1990, in Bedford and she survives. He was a Human Resources Consultant and Specialist with the Indianapolis Metro Police Department and the City of Indianapolis. He was a member of the North Central Church of Christ in Indianapolis, and past member of Central Church of Christ and Southland Church of Christ, both in Bedford. Other involvements include being a bible camp counselor at Spring Mill Bible Camp in Mitchell, health forms coordinator with the Boy Scouts Troop 276 in Indianapolis, and a children’s bible teacher in Indianapolis. Survivors include his wife, Julie; children, Cameron Ellison and Meredith Ellison; parents, Jim and Beth Ellison; sisters, Caron Gwen Ellison and Jennifer Ellison Bland; nephews, Jordan Koch, Spencer Koch, Hunter Koch, and Jett Ellison Bland; aunt, Debra Westenberger, and her husband, David; uncle, Mark J. Tumey; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ruby and Willard Cracraft; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Connie and Eric Koch. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Morris and Ruby Tumey; paternal grandparents, Edward and Kathleen Ellison; aunt, Lorenda Voris and her husband, Arch Voris; uncle, Eddie Ellison and his wife, Sondra. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 30th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Dale Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in the Judah cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 29th at the Day & Carter Mortuary. The family asks that masks be worn during all services. Memorial contributions can be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
