Obituary of James M. Clampitt
Mexico, MO - James Marshall Clampitt, 73, of Mexico, passed away on Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Missouri.
James was born on October 29, 1948, in Bedford, Indiana, the son of James Francis and Luella (Manzenberger) Clampitt. On June 21, 1970, in Bedford, Indiana, he married Cora Mae Spore.
Mr. Clampitt served in the United States Air Force. He obtained a B.S. and M.S. in Accounting from Indiana University. James worked as the CFO for several hospitals throughout the country until attending law school at the age of 50. After earning a M.S. in Public Policy and J.D. in Law from Regent University in
Virginia, he practiced law for the remainder of his career.
James was a member of Genesis Church and served as a Deacon. He was a member of the Missouri Bar Association, Audrain County Drug Court since 2007, and served as a Guardian ad Litem. Mr. Clampitt had also been a past member of the Kiwanis Club.
Survivors include his wife, Cora Clampitt of Mexico; son, Jim (Angie) Clampitt of Mexico; six grandchildren, Abby (Erik) Phillips of Columbia, James N. Clampitt of New Orleans, Maggie (Josh) Clampitt-Ward of Columbia, Ben Clampitt of Mexico, Darien Mills of Mexico, and Franny Rudasill of Mexico; four great-
grandchildren, Lucas, Jackson and Christopher Phillips, and Riley Rudasill; one sister, Jane (John) Fansler of Bedford, Indiana; two brothers, Jerry (Tracey)Clampitt and Joseph (Tami) Clampitt, both of Bedford, Indiana; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
James was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Johnny Clampitt.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Sunday, December 12th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Kenny Dalton officiating. Burial will follow in Gilgal Cemetery in Heltonville with military rites accorded at the graveside. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until the hour of service on Sunday at the mortuary.
