Obituary of Bonnie Marie Bridges

Bedford – Bonnie Marie Bridges, 91, of Bedford, passed away on Saturday, November 6, 2021. Born April 11, 1930, in Lawrence Co., she was the daughter of Charles and Katie (Pace) Allen, the seventh of eight children. She attended Dive School and graduated from Oolitic High School with the class of 1948. She married Winferd W. “Bud” Bridges, Jr. on June 29, 1947, and he preceded her in death on November 17, 1991. She retired from Central Foundry (now GM Powertrain). She was a member of the Dive Christian Church for over 65 years and was active for many years in various Ladies Aide activities, as a Nursery volunteer, and a faithful Sunday School member. She was a loving caregiver to her family, including her extended family. She was the loving mother of Karen Elaine Stephenson, of Oolitic and Nickii Jeanne (Jim) Henderson, and Joseph Wayne Bridges, all of Bedford; loving “granny” of Tomi (Dave) Lessaris, of Greenwood, IN, Michelle (Ronald) Brewer, Charity Parker, and Craig Henderson all of Bedford, Samuel Caswell, II, of Oolitic, IN, Joe Wayne Pendley, of French Lick, IN, Amy (Kip) Allen, of Orleans, IN, Joshua Bridges, of Heltonville, IN and Cory Henderson (deceased); sixteen great-grandchildren and sixteen great-great-grandchildren. The last of her siblings, she is also survived by a brother-in-law, Don Bridges; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Burgess, Sherry (Ronnie) Peck, of Bedford, and Kathy Bridges, of Norman, IN and many cherished nieces and nephews from four generations. She was preceded in death by her parents, her step-father, Calvin Craig, her husband, siblings, John Edward Allen (in infancy), Juanita Feltner, Louise Shaver, Charles Allen, Betty Griffin, Marjorie Braden, and Colleen Allen; siblings-in-law, Marie Flynn, Ray Bridges, and Ralph Bridges; grandsons, Cory Henderson and Michael K. Parker, II; great-grandson, Dakota Burnette; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Thursday, November 11th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Jimmy Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Dive Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, November 10th and from 10:00 am until the hour of service on Thursday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
