Obituary of Robert E. Turner

Heltonville – Robert E. Turner, 83, of Heltonville, passed away at 4:30 pm on Sunday, September 19, 2021. Born March 19, 1938, in Lawrence Co., he was the son of Paul F. and Elizabeth (Hughes) Turner. He married Marilyn Kelley on March 19, 1956, and she survives. He retired from Rogers Building Supply where he worked in the lumber yard. He was a member of the Hunter’s Creek Pentecostal Church and enjoyed wood working. He was a devout, God- fearing man devoted to his family. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Kay, of Heltonville; children, Anita Todd and her husband, Tracy, Gayla Turner, all of Heltonville, Randy E. Turner and wife, Terri, of Oolitic, Rusty Turner and wife, Karen, of Bloomington, Melissia Gilbert and husband, Brad, of Bedford; 16 grandchildren, Theresa Moore, Tanya (Josh) Wagner, Laura (Jeremy) Mullis, Anna (Samuel) Shepherd, Kimberly Todd, Tevin (Leigh) Fish, Tyson (Kyla) Fish, Chad (Marcie) Turner, Steven “Ky” (Jessica) Turner, Ryan (Hope) East, Kyle (Catherine) East, Derek (Wendi) Turner, Bailey (Nicholas) Beasley, Camden Hill, Bryce Gilbert, and Shelby Hill; 25 great-grandchildren; 1 great great-grandchild; siblings, Judith (Robert) Barrett, Loretta (Wayne) Fields, and Mike (Norma) Turner; several nieces, nephews, and his fur baby, Maggie; . He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Raymond Turner; a grandson, Michael Turner; a great-granddaughter, Adeline Turner. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Friday, September 24th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Kenneth Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Gilgal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, September 23rd at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
