Obituary of Richard Lee Helton
Bedford Richard Lee Helton, 57, of Bedford, died at 2:59 pm on Friday, February 20, 2004 at Bloomington Hospital.
Born May 2, 1947 in Lawrence County, he was the son of Charles Red and Jewel (Craig/Mosier) Helton. He married Penni Kaye Deputy on November 1, 1967 and she survives.
He was a machinist at Whitney Tool Company. He was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, member of the Bloomington Jaycees. He was a member of the Henpecked Monday Night Bowling League and was involved in several various bowling leagues. His family remembers him as a wonderful and loving husband and father to his children and many other children that needed him.
Survivors include his mother, wife, one daughter, Carrie D. Helton and her fiance, Jim Blackwell of Bedford; one brother, Jack Helton of Bedford; one sister, Jeannie Ritchison; one granddaughter, Katelyn Jade Helton Blackwell; a niece, Katie Drehobl, whom he thought of as his own daughter and her children Joseph and Carson Triggs; and his step-father, Robert Mosier. Also, several nieces and nephews.
He was preceeded in death by his father; one son, James J.R. Helton; one sister, Connie Edmonson; his maternal grandparents, Eula and Van Craig; and his paternal grandparents, Ott and Dessie Helton. Funeral Information
Friends may call from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, February 23rd at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, February 24th at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church with Father Bernie Cox officiating.
