Obituary of Erma L. Haws

Erma L. Haws, 88, of Bedford, died on Friday, July 9, 2021, at 7:15 pm at the IU Health Hospice House. Born December 5, 1932, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Dewey and Pearl (Covey) Chenault. She married H Wayne Dalton, May 1951, and he preceded her in death November 1973. She married Kenneth C. Haws, December 1975, and he preceded her in death January 2019. Survivors include her daughter, Cindy (Kent) Turner of Bedford; grandson Jason (Maria Petzel) of Houston, TX; great grandchildren, Alex Turner and Abbi Turner; step- daughters, Susan (Charles Hostetter) Brennan of Brownsburg, and Melanie Hacker of Bedford; step grandchildren, Christy Toll, Samantha (Matt) Renner, Nicholas Hacker, Jobie (Aliza) Hacker, and Carolyn Hacker; step great grandchildren, Emerson Toll, Everett Renner, Kaysin Hacker, and Lillian Hacker. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, sisters, Dorothy Elder, Melvina Ryan, Betty Stancombe, a brother, Dale Chenault, and a step grandson, Brandon Runkle. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, July 13th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Stephen Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the hour of service on Tuesday, July 13th at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to either Johnson Christian Village, Dive Christian Church Children’s Christmas Fund, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
