Bedford – Frances New, 91, of Bedford, passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at her residence.

Born October 12, 1929 in Lawrence Co., she was the daughter of Emmett and Pearl (Lewis) Patton. She married Avery New on October 18, 1943 and he preceded her in death on March 13, 2010. She attended Patton Hill School. She retired as a nursing technician from Bedford Regional Medical Center in 1977. She was of the Pentecostal faith and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed fishing.

Survivors include three daughters, Paulette (George) Sherrill and Elaine (Bob) Holt, both of Bedford, and Freida May, of Williams; grandchildren, Doug (Ruth) May, Wendy (Joe) Houk, Beth (J.D.) Hayes, Jennifer (Paul) Denesha, Adriane (Eric) Beasley, Tricia (Ronnie) Frost, Kelly (Jeff) Boruff, Leann Strunk, Sherry (David) Cross, and Jimmy Strunk; several great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter, Joyce Strunk; a step-grandson, Scott Holt; two sisters, Ethel Medlock and Margie Allen; two brothers, Opal (in infancy) and Paul Patton.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 22nd in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Randy McVey officiating. Burial will follow in the Patton Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service on Saturday, May 22nd at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
