Brian's deep expertise paired with abounding grace left quite an impression on me while studying with him at Emory. I would reach out to him occasionally over the ensuing years whenever I wanted to access his encyclopedic knowledge. He always responded. The news of his passing is saddening. Condolences to his family and all left to mourn. Surely his reward is great for all the seeds he planted. Blessings to you all.

Oh, I am so sorry to learn of Brian's passing. He and I were doctoral students together at Emory. Belinda, I don't know if you'll remember that Janice and I had you two over for Sunday dinner very early in our collective time in Atlanta.
I always loved Brian's gentle soul combined with gifted intelligence. I saw him only occasionally after Atlanta, always at American Academy of Religion conferences, but it was always so good to catch up with him a little. I think about him every now and then, always fondly, and in fact only learned of his passing because I thought I'd try to google him and see what he was up to.
I will always consider him a dear friend at a distance. Belinda, I am so sorry. Our love and prayers for you and yours.

So many good memories of Brian and our youth group at the Bedford First Church of God. Very sad to hear of his passing. He was always sweet and friendly and we all had great times together. I did not know Brian dedicated his life to teaching and theology....what an amazing contribution he made. My sincerest sympathies to his wife and family and to Steve & Lou Ann and their families too. Precious memories will comfort you until we are all together once again as promised.

I did not Bryan well, but I have loved the little 5 year old girl he raised from the first moment I saw her playing on the steps outside my condo. I love her still, and always will. She came into my life just in time to brighten my world with cherished memories.

I had the honor of taking care of Dr. Barlow in the hospital and have known his family for a long time. Dr. Barlow spoke softly and gently. He reminded me of my grandfather in his kind and sweet demeanor. I was lucky to know him and my thoughts and prayers are with his family. The world has lost a beautiful soul but I know his spirit will live on through his daughter and wife and soon to be grandchild. May he Rest In Peace.

Brian was such a nice person - we went to school together and band and church camp and didn't live that far apart and our families attended the same church in Bedford. I had lost track of his whereabouts but it seems has was well accomplished and enjoyed his family as well. Sorry for your loss and glad I knew him as a friend many years ago, class of 74.

Dr. Barlow was one of the most delightful professors I had the privilege of learning from during my time at AU. Like so many other students, he opened a world for me to study and seek questions that I didn’t know I could ask. His encouragement helped me to see that I could keep pursuing higher ed. I’ll always be grateful and marked by his impact on my life and ministry. Family, please know that you all have my most sincere prayers.

Dr. Barlow inspired me to pursue a furthered education in theology at Anderson University. If it wasn't for him and his engagement with me as a student, I don't believe I would be where I am today. He was a quiet professor, but his questions and materials drew me into a world that I had no idea I could explore. I am so grateful for him and the way he has impacted myself and the other students he interacted with.
