Obituary of Bernice E. Deckard

Bernice E. Deckard, 93 of Bedford died at 7:08pm on Friday, November 6, 2020 at the I.U. Health Bedford Hospital. Born June 17, 1927 in Monroe County, she was the daughter of Edward and Clotha (Kinser) Kinser. She married Glenn Deckard on July 5, 1944 and he preceded her in death on September 12, 2005. She had worked at Sarkes-Tarzian and at the Bedford Medical Center. She attended the Healing Waters Pentecostal Church in Bloomington. Survivors include one daughter, Brenda England and her husband Roger of Bedford; one son, Larry Deckard and wife Sandra of Bedford; six grandchildren:, Lisa Eagans, Travis Norman and wife Kristen, Tevin Norman and wife Jamie, Heather Hearth and husband Rick, Glenn Deckard, Chris Greathouse and wife Connie, Glenda Greathouse-Ellis and husband Gerald, Johnathon Greathouse and wife Tracy, Becky Tumey and husband Scott; great grandchildren: Dillon, Brandt, and Luke Eagans, Gavin, Gracie, and Logan Norman, Kiley, Cole, and Clair Stidam, Taylor and Karsyn Norman, Kristen Terry and husband Zac, Kelsey Hearth, Torrie Greathouse, Jeremy Tumey and wife Emily, Tiffany Deckard and husband Donnie McCart; four great great grandchildren: Korra Eagans, Asher Tumey, Grace Riggs Sollman, Carter Sollman, Tyson McGlothlin, and Alicia McCart, Corey Owens. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Eugene Deckard, one grandson, Michael Joe Deckard, and one grandson-in-law, Brian Eagans. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, November 10th, 2020 in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Donna Hendrickson officiating. Burial will follow in the Leatherwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the hour of service on Tuesday at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Pallbearers will be Glenn Deckard, Jon Greathouse, Jeremy Tumey, Tevin Norman, Travis Norman, Scott Tumey.
