Shirley R. George, 83, of Bedford, passed away at 8:52 am on Friday, October 16, 2020 at her residence.

Born May 15, 1937, in Lawrence Co., she was the daughter of William and Hazel (Martin) Cummings. She married Murl D. Flinn in 1958 and he preceded her in death on January 28, 1985. She later married Chester E. George on February 9, 1989 and he preceded her in death on October 23, 2004.

Survivors include three daughters, Eldena Mae Wilson, of Clarksville, Rita Carol Roberts and husband, Richard, of Shoals, and Frieda Kay Flinn of Bedford; a son, Kevin D. Flinn of Heltonville; a step-daughter, Beverly Morrison and husband, Larry, of Norman; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four sisters, Cathrine Ramsey, Thelma Stevens, Essie Blackwell, and Ruth Cummings; four brothers, Carl, Joseph, Harold, and Leon Cummings.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Tuesday, October 20th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Joe McAdams officiating. Burial will follow in the Pinhook Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00pm on Monday, October 19th at the Day & Carter Mortuary, and from 9:00am until the hour of service on Tuesday.
