Bedford – Melissa J. Overstreet, 60, of Bedford, passed away at 3:53 am on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at the Golden Living Center in Bloomington.

Born April 14, 1960, in Mitchell, she was the daughter of Lloyd and Margaret (Vanmeter) Melton. She married Douglas Overstreet on November 7, 1982 and he preceded her in death on January 15, 2009. She was disabled and attended Guide Point Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Rachel Kee and husband, Michael, of Bloomington and Tina Hanners and husband, Bill, of Bedford; one son, Michael Vinson, of Bedford; twelve grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; three sisters, Beth Parks and husband, Ray, of Scottsburg, Donna Hill, of MI, and Marla Salazar, of Mitchell; three brothers, Rick Vanmeter, Butch Vanmeter and wife, Debbie, and Mike Vanmeter, all of Bedford; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Melton, her father, Lloyd Melton; her husband, Douglas; a brother, Lloyd “Petey” Thomas, Jr.; a granddaughter, Madison Bickers.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Friday, October 16th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in the Dive Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until the hour of service on Friday, October 16th at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Family and friends may express condolences at www.daycarter.com.
