Obituary of Joe D. Deckard

Bedford-Joe David Deckard, 70, of Bedford died at 4:05 am on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at the IU Health Hospice House in Bloomington. Born February 2, 1950 in Smithville, IN he was the son of John L. and Opal (Todd) Deckard. He was a self-employed marine mechanic, a member of the Burgoon Baptist Church, enjoyed building street rods, and was involved with several car clubs and shows. Survivors include two sons: Joe Deckard, Jr. and his wife Rachel of Bedford, Troy Deckard and his significant other Dyan Higgins of Bloomfield; one granddaughter, Hailey Deckard; his significant other, Pat Combs of Harrodsburg; one sister, Sharon Trinkle and her husband Claude of Bloomington, several in-laws, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings: Dorothy, Bill, Harold, Jack, Doris, Rex, Butch. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Harold Godsey officiating. Burial will follow in the Clear Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Monday, October 12th at the Day & Carter Mortuary. At Joe’s request, please send donations to White River Humane Society instead of flowers.
