Obituary of Kenneth E. Goben Jr.

Mitchell – Kenneth E. Goben, Jr., 70, of Mitchell, passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at his residence. Born April 24, 1950 in Kentucky, he was the son of Kenneth E. Goben,Sr. and Lucy (McCubbins) Goben. He married Shelley Chandler on December 19, 1992 and she survives. He was a carpenter and owner of SE Closets and was a clerk at Ben Franklin/Ace Hardware and had worked as an Animal Control Officer in Mt. Washington, KY, he worked closely with the DNR in animal rehabilitation, and he had been a member of the UAW in Louisville. He was of the Christian faith. Survivors include his wife, Shelley, two sons, Jeffrey Goben of Kentucky, Kenneth Goben, III of Kentucky, three stepsons, Joe Hall and wife Nechole of Bedford, Dan Hall and wife Dawn of Norman, Dustin Gabhart of Bedford, Tabatha Gabhart of Bedford, eleven grandchildren, Levi, Luke and Mady Hall all of Martinsville, Jacob and Autumn Hall of Bedford, Gage and Gretta Gabhart of Bedford, Luke Martin and Emma York both of Norman, Sara and Derick Goben of KY; one great grandson, Elijah; five siblings, Charlotte Cooper of Kentucky, Ronnie Goben of FL, Donnie Goben of Kentucky, Sherry Wright of Kentucky and Terry Goben of Tennessee, his mule, Haley, his burrow, Eeyore, and his cat, Baby He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother-in-law, Jim Cooper. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM on Sunday, October 11, 2020 in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Jeff Hudelson officiating. Visitation will be from Noon until 4:00 at the mortuary. Cremation will follow. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lawrence County Cancer Patient Services.
