Obituary of Jeanette Nikirk

Jeanette Nikirk, 89, of Oolitic, died at 5:00 am on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at Westview Nursing & Rehab Bedford. Born August 16, 1931, in Lawrence Co., she was the daughter of Joseph and Louisa (Mcdermed) Cassidy. She married Delvin Nikirk in 1953 and he survives. She had worked at RCA, JC Penney, Walmart, and 3.D. She was a member of Bedford Congregation of Jehovah’s Witness. Survivors include her husband, Delvin Nikirk of Oolitc; one son, John Mark Nikirk and wife Dawn of Bedford; one daughter, Kathy Shaw and husband James of Bedford; and three grandchildren, Jared Crane, Matthew Nikirk, and Jonathan Nikirk. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Bill, Ben, Carl, and James Cassidy; and four sisters, JoAnn Cassidy, Catherine Dorsett, Margaret Brown, and Virginia Ray. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Wednesday, October 7th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in Hilltop Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, October 6th at Day & Carter Mortuary, and also from 9:00 am until the hour of service on Wednesday.
