Obituary of Ruth Evelyn Padgett

Ruth Evelyn Padgett, 93, of Mitchell died at 4:00 am on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at the I.U. Health Bloomington Hospital. Born April 4, 1927 in Lawrence Co., she was the daughter of Daniel and Goldie (Phillips) McMahan. She married William A. Padgett on August1, 1945 and he preceded her in death on June 15, 1996. She was a homemaker and had worked at Citizen’s National Bank and was a member of the Wesley Chapel Church. Survivors include two daughters: Carol Rainey of Bedford, and Brenda Harrell and her husband James of Seymour; three sons: David Padgett and his wife Rita of Westport, Kenneth Padgett of Indianapolis, and Keith Padgett and his wife Phyllis of Bedford; twelve grandchildren, and twenty three great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister, Irene Pless, two brother, Dr. V.C. McMahan, Donald McMahan, and one son-in-law, John Rainey. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 20 at the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, with Valarie Foughty-Killion officiating. Burial will follow in the Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Day & Carter Mortuary and from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service on Thursday at the church.
