Dear Steve and Melodee,
I was saddened to hear of your mother's passing. I am very sorry for your loss. Your mother and I taught third grade together at Needmore from 1972 until 1981. She was a lovely lady, mentor, and friend. I remember my first day, the one teachers use to prepare for the school year. Matricia came to my room and said that she knew I had my own ideas but she would be glad to help if I needed anything. That meant a lot to me. She reached out to me when my mother passed in 2016 in Bedford. I had recently tried to call her but the number didn't work. I asked my brother, who had been a teacher at Oolitic if he knew of a contact person. He is the one who contacted me about your mother's death. Matricia and I shared a lot of laughs during our teaching years together. She often spoke of you both with love and pride. You are in my prayers.

Matricia was ready and it’s still hard to imagine church without her. So sorry to the family, and Mary Ellen especially for the devoted ways you cared for her.
“Mrs. Butler” was my third grade teacher at Needmore and that was a great thing. I’ll never forget the chalkboard math drills and the ways she incorporated common sense and respect into her teachings.

Mrs. Butler was my 3rd grade teacher at Needmore. She was so special to me. She always knew me when she saw me and we would talk. The last few years we exchanged Christmas cards and letters.
