Obituary of Norma Lou Thrasher

Harrodsburg – Norma Lou (Hitchcock) Thrasher, 85, of Harrodsburg, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at I.U. Health Hospice House in Bloomington. Born May 17, 1934, she was the daughter of Arnold Faris and Hazel Laverne (Adkins) Hitchcock. She was raised in Martin County and graduated from Williams High School with the class of 1951. She married John Michael Thrasher on November 22, 1956 and he survives. She was a Central Service Technician at Bloomington Hospital. She was a member of the Harrodsburg United Methodist Church where she had been involved with many activities through the church. She had lived in Harrodsburg for sixty years. Survivors include her husband, John, of Harrodsburg; a daughter, Beth Thrasher Ponce and husband, Ernesto, of Harrodsburg; seven grandchildren, Aaron, Jordan, Christian, Emmanuel, Isaiah, and Samuel Ponce and Hannah Ponce Parks; seven great grandchildren; a brother, Edward Hitchcock and wife, Geneva; a sister, Patsy Hitchcock Dye; a nephew, David Dye; two nieces, Susan and Karen Dye. She was preceded in death by her parents and a nephew, Scott Dye. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Thursday, March 12th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Matt Hinshaw officiating. Burial will follow in the Trinity Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, March 11th at the Day & Carter Mortuary. The family asks that friends consider memorial contributions be made to the Harrodsburg United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer’s Assoc.
