Obituary of Norma A. Bagby

Norma A. Bagby, 91, of Bedford, passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2020, at Stonebridge Health Campus. Born October 19, 1928, in Harlan County KY, she was the daughter of Nova T. and Ruby (Hines) Hensley. She married Arthur Eugene “Baldy” Jones, December 24, 1949 and he preceded her in death on August 13, 1973. She married Dr. Paul R. Bagby, September 19, 1976 and he preceded her in death on December 31, 1985. Norma retired from RCA as a line supervisor. She was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Delta Sigma Kappa Sorority, American Legion Auxiliary, and was a lifetime member of the Women’s Auxiliary of Bedford Boat & Sportsman Club. Norma loved spending time with her family and friends. She especially enjoyed spending time at the Bedford American Legion Post 33 socializing and entertaining her friends and staff with her wit and humor. Survivors include two sisters, Irene Murray of Carmel, Janice Hedrick and companion Jimmie Goins of Bedford. Other survivors include her step-daughter, Barbara Bagby Krisher and husband Kevin of Greenville, NC; two step-grandchildren, Shane Miracle and wife Stephanie of Hampstead, NC, Katie Cole and husband Jay of Pawleys Island, SC; four step-great-grandchildren, Jake Miracle, Courtney Stein and husband Derrick, Jackson Cole, A.J. Cole; one step-great-great-grandchild Keegan Stein. She considered her step-children, step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren and step-great-great-grandchild as her own. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Norma was proceeded in death by her parents, husbands, step-son Joe Bagby, one sister Wilma Byers, and two brothers Roger and Wendell Hensley. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 15th, in the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary with Deacon Dave officiating. Burial will follow in Greenhill cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 am until the hour of service on February 15th at Day & Carter Moruary. Memorial gifts can be made in Norma’s memory to the American Cancer Society or St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
