Brad, Kim, and Kelly - we were saddened to learn recently of your dad's passing. We have such fond memories of both your parents. Joe ALWAYS had a joke to share or was teasing others which made people smile and laugh no matter what. And a special, personal memory of Joe is his talent for carving. Dad (Dave) and I both have a basket that Joe carved from a peach seed!!! How in the world did he do that? He was a multi-talented guy for sure. Peace to you in the days ahead - Dave and Julia

Dear Kelly, Brad, and the entire Purlee family: I want to extend my sincere condolences on the passing of Joe. I so enjoyed working with him at Hatfield many years ago; he could always be counted upon for a smile, a joke, and a helping hand. One day, he observed that my teacher’s stool was very wobbly and beat up looking, it having been a relic from the old Riley School. He took the stool home, took it apart, completely repaired and painted it, and returned it to me. It used it for the rest of my career, and it came home with me when I retired. It is a sweet memory of a fine, funny, and good man. Love to you all.

To the family of Joseph Ralph Purlee: We're sorry for your loss. We didn't have the pleasure of knowing Joseph Purlee but we ,The First Baptist Church of Franklin, Indiana, do know Joseph's grandson, Andy McFarland. Andy is a wonderful young man who faithfully attends our services in the Richardson Chapel on the Franklin College Campus every Sunday when on campus. We enjoy his presence with us and he helps in any way he ask. I'm sure there was a deep, mutual love between Andy & his grandfather, We will keep all you in our thoughts & prayers.

I attended 1st thru I think the 4th grade with Joe at Bryantsville. He transferred to Mitchell and I don't recall ever seeing him again. During those years I remember him as being my best friend. I remember him as one of the good ones. Lloyd Tincher, California
