Obituary of Rev. Dr. Riley Holcombe Walker

Bedford- Rev. Dr. Riley Holcombe Walker, 71, of Bedford, died at 3:05 pm on Sunday, November 24, 2019 at I.U. Health Hospice House.

Born August 22, 1948 in Cleveland, Mississippi, he was the son of Harry and Merle (Lewis) Walker. He married Joyce Storm on May 28, 1971 and she preceded him in death on September 15, 2017. He retired as the Executive Minister of American Baptist Churches of the Dakotas, was an Indiana State Police Chaplain for many years and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bedford.

Survivors include two daughters, Adair Walker Brent, of Bedford and Rachel Storm Landers and husband, Alan, of Germany; a son, Jonathan Lewis Walker and wife, Jennifer, of Springville; his dear companion, Lynn Johnson, of Bedford; grandchildren, Aaron Storm, Corbin Walker Brent, Moriah Walker Brent, Brennan Blevins, Bruce Walker, Henry Armstrong, Ezra  Landers, Grace Landers, Eli Landers, and Nora Landers; a sister, Jane Shattuck, of Florida; a brother, Gary Walker, of Florida; a half-sister, Lynn Benvenutti, of Texas; his step-mother, Adair T. Walker, of Florida; step-siblings, Jonathan Trawick, of Florida,  Julie Eberhard, and Beth Merrill both of Mississippi. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Joyce.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, November 27^th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Don Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Springville Cemetery West. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, November 26^th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.  The family asks that friends consider memorial contributions be made to, Systemic JIA Foundation www.systemicJIA.org. or to the First Baptist Church Summitville Second Staff.
