Obituary of Nancy F. Sowder

Bedford-  Nancy F. (Kinser) Sowder, 73, of Bedford, died at 6:50 p.m. on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at the IU Hospice House in Bloomington.

Born April 4, 1946 in Charlestown, IN, she was the daughter of Zanford Kinser and Margaret (Martin) Kinser. She was a graduate of Heltonville High School. Nancy married Larry Dean “Butch” Sowder on May 14, 1966 and he preceded her in death on December 23, 2018. She was a homemaker who loved to sew and cook. She was a member of the Bartlettsville Christian Church. She loved to plan and host gatherings with family and church, especially the annual BNL football dinner at Bartlettsville. Nancy loved her family very much, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her three sons, Jeffrey D. Sowder of Heltonville, Jason Sowder (Jennifer) of Fayetteville, and Brian Sowder (Julia) of Bedford; four grandchildren, Taylor Sowder, Sydney Sowder (who was also her caregiver), Jaylee Sowder, and Jeredon Sowder; one great-grandchild Macaul Stillions; three siblings, Ann Hunt (Gordon) of Norman, Gene Kinser (Ruth) of Springville, Dick Kinser (Sharon) of Heltonville; a brother-in-law, Duane Chastain; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded by her parents; husband, Butch; sisters, Kathryn Chastain and Laverne Fountain, and her husband George Fountain.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 28th at the Bartlettsville Christian Church with Pastor Tim Day officiating. Burial will follow in the Bartlettsville Christian Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 27th and from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service, all at Bartlettsville Christian Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Bartlettsville Christian Church.
