Obituary of Rodney D. Bailey

Bedford- Rodney D. Bailey, 89, of Bedford, died at 10:05 am on Thursday, September 12, 2019 at I.U. Health Bedford Hospital.

Born November 3, 1929 in Lawrence County, he was the son of George and Laura (Henderson) Bailey.  He married Mary A. Deckard on October 11, 1954 and she survives.  Rodney was a night vision technician at NSWC Crane.  Rodney attended Grace Community Church and was a Veteran of the U.S. Army.

Survivors include:  his wife, Mary, two sons, Kevin Bailey and fiancé, Jill A. Deckard of Bedford, Jeff Bailey and significant other, Vickie Guthrie of Bedford, three daughters, Andrea Kern and husband, Rick of Springville, Yvonne Tincher of Bedford and Michelle Bailey of Bedford, six grandchildren:  Tiffany Chumley and husband  Dustin of Bedford, Chelsey Wisley and husband Josh of Bedford, Andy Kern and wife Sarah of Wisconsin, Derek Kern and fiancé Kayla of Bedford, Jason Tincher of Alabama, Megan Webster and fiancé Jeff Tirey of Bedford, 14 great grandchildren, two sisters, Joyce Terrell and husband Gene of Georgia, Sandra Sheppard of Bedford and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Charles Lee Bailey and sisters, Willabelle and Marilyn Sue Trusty.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Dave Wilson and Andy Kern officiating. Burial will follow in Mundell Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 pm on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at the mortuary.
