Obituary of Donald E. McBride

Bedford – Donald McBride, 85, of Bedford, died at 6:45 pm on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at Stonebridge Health Campus.

Born June 4, 1934 in Lawrence Co., he was the son of Ila Ecarl and Mary Geneva (Bennett) McBride. He was a graduate of Shawswick High School with the class of 1952 and served in the Indiana National Guard for nine years. He had worked on the farm of Louie Fish, at Roberts and Standish Feed Store, Westinghouse Corporation, and Indiana Gas Co. He was a member of Restoration Church of the Nazarene where he taught Sunday School. He enjoyed gardening and “junking”. He married Dorothy Janice Louden on September 4, 1954 and she preceded him in death on December 16, 1999. He later married Sylvia A. Burkhart on October 6, 2007 and she survives.

Additionally, he is survived by two daughters, Debra L. Crane and husband, Charlie, of Bedford and Deanna K. Cessna and husband, Charles, of Mitchell; a son, Daniel E. McBride and wife, Holly, of Bedford; four grandsons, Craig and Kyle (Morgan) Cessna, Tanner and Ty McBride; two granddaughters, Amy Cessna (Patrick) Redman and Laura Cessna (Brady) Turner; a step-son, Chris Burkhart; a step-daughter, Laurine Holsapple; six great grandchildren, Dane and William Redman, Kami Turner, Emma and Ethan Crane and Madison Everroad; a nephew and good friend, Tony Barrett. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, three sisters, Dorothy Hall, Vonda Ira, and Rose Barrett; one brother, John I. McBride and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Friday, June 21st in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Ken Bushey and Kenny Fisher officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Bedford. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, June 20th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
