Obituary of Odus Callahan

Bedford – Odus Callahan, 73, of Bedford, formerly of Mitchell, died at 1:21 am on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

Born November 2, 1945, he was the son of Donald and Jane (Spinks) Callahan. He married Avonda Lou Osborn on January 10, 1967 and she preceded him in death on March 26, 2010. He retired as a tool and die maker from General Motors in Bedford and was owner/operator of O-D-Lu Tree Farm for over thirty years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during the Vietnam War. He was a plane captain on the USS Ranger with Squadron VA 165 Boomers. He was a member of the Fayetteville Baptist Church and Fayetteville Lions Club.

Survivors include two sons, Sean Callahan, of Francisco, IN and Michael Callahan and wife, Tena, of DeKalb, IL; five grandchildren, Kenney Hallam, Samantha Callahan, Payton Callahan, Alexander (A.J.) Callahan, and Caitlin Callahan; two brothers, John and Dean Callahan; a sister, Donna Sue Summers. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 9th at the Fayetteville Baptist Church with Pastor Kenny Walden officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, March 8th at the Day & Carter Mortuary and from 9:00 am until the hour of service on Saturday, March 9th at the Fayetteville Baptist Church. Military rites will be accorded following the service by members of Gillen Post #33 American Legion.
