Obituary of Connie J Cummings

Heltonville-Connie J. Cummings, 82, of Heltonville died Friday, February 1, 2019.

Our beloved Marmie was born May 12, 1936 in Lawrence Co., she was the daughter of Ray Leo and Colletta (Ritchison) Hedge.  She married the love of her life, Joseph D. Cummings on November 14, 1953 and he preceded her in death on August 21, 2006.  She was a homemaker and attended the Leatherwood Christian Church.

Survivors include four daughters, Zenda Cummings of Heltonville, JoEtta Hoppe and husband, Brian, of Bedford, Tammi J. DuVall and husband, Richard of Lafayette, and Dana L. Beaver, and husband, Mark of Bedford; two sons, Bradley Cummings of Heltonville, and Andy D. Cummings of Bedford; nine grandchildren: David Hoppe and wife Stephanie, Zachary Hoppe,  Johnathon Hoppe and wife Courtney, Cari Schiuszi and husband Chad, Rick DuVall and wife Maddy, Lowell Cummings,  Willie Ann Hottell and husband Brenden, Chelsey Holm and husband Zach,  J. Owen and Griffin Beaver; thirteen great grandchildren;  two sisters, Jacquey Richerson of North  Vernon, and Penny Hensley of Bedford; two sisters-in-law Shirley George of Heltonville and Violet Cummings of Bedford; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and three sisters, Vivian Hedge, Yvonne Wray, and Mona Flynn. 

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Tuesday, February 5th, 2019 in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Sherman Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens.  Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, February 4th  at the Day & Carter Mortuary.  Family and friends may express condolences at www.daycarter.com.
