Obituary of Helen JoAnn Kirkman

Bedford Our Merciful Lord Jesus wrapped His comforting arms around His faithful servant, Helen JoAnn Kirkman, and took her home with Him to everlasting peace in His glorious Kingdom of Heaven at 1:17 pm on Thursday, July 8, 2004 at Dunn Memorial Hospital in Bedford. Her pureness and sincerity of heart throughout her years on earth has been rewarded by His Divine Grace as the Heavens have now welcomed a precious lady that will undoubtedly be a shining star among His loyal flock of Angels. Jo was born to Verna and Kyle (Bennett) Moore on November 4, 1931 in Knightstown, Indiana and was one of nine children. She married Clarence Lester Kirkman on September 11, 1946 and they raised seven children together. Jo was a homemaker and devoted her entire life to her husband and family and called her children her seven blessings. Survivors include her husband, Lester of Bedford; two sons, Dwight Kirkman and his wife, DiAnn of Jacksonville, FL; Barry Kirkman and his wife Karen of Bedford; four daughters, Diana Johnson and her fiance, Larry Claycombe of Bedford; Debra Vester and her husband, Paul of Oolitic; Denise Williams and her husband, Tim of Avoca; Dee Duncan and her husband Harry of Bedford; twelve grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Corey of Oolitic and Susie Walker of Indianapolis. Jo was preceded in death by beloved son, David; her parents, five brothers, Stanley, Wayne, Myron, Cecil and Kenneth and one sister, Lynn. Pallbearers will be Larry Claycombe, Barry Kirkman, Harry Duncan, Lee and Jesse Swank and Matthew Adams. Funeral Information Family and friends may call from 12:00 Noon until 12:45 pm on Saturday, July 10th at the Day & Carter Mortuary prior to the graveside service at 1:00 pm at Green Hill Cemetery in Bedford.
