Obituary of Emily H. Wells

SOUTH BEND, IN - Emily H. Wells, 85, passed away on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Trailpoint Village Nursing Center in South Bend, IN after an extended illness, with her loving family by her side.

Emily was born May 28, 1933 in Bedford, IN to the late Samuel and Audree (Dodds) Hitchcock. She has resided in the Michiana area for the last nine years, coming from Bedford.

She is survived by her sons, Jeffry H. (Danette) Wells of South Bend and Phillip L. Wells of Momence, IL; and her loving grandchildren, Audree L. Wells of Houston, TX and Joseph H. Wells of South Bend. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Patricia J. Greiner.

Emily was a graduate of Purdue University with a degree in Speech and Hearing, and was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority. 

She was a homemaker and lovingly cared for her son, Phillip, for many years, taking care of his special needs. In her spare time, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, playing cards, shopping, and being with her loving family and grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made in Emily's honor to the Good Shepard Manor, P.O. Box 260, Momence, IL 60954.

Visitation will be from 11 am to 1 pm on Friday, October 19th at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will be in Cresthaven Memory Gardens.
