Alan was a teacher a mentor, & a friend he was a humble, caring & compassionate person. He always had a smile & was someone you could always count on. When God created Alan he knew he was a one of a kind, I thank god that I had the honor of being taught by him & my kids too. To Alan’s family it was a great honor to know him but more of an honor that you were all family & had such a closeness & love for each other. So many blessings you shared & lots of great memories. I’m praying for your family as you go thru this time. God bless you all

Everyone knows Alan had a lot of love for his wife, his daughters and his grandkids as it showed in all his mannerisms’. He made being a true family man look easy.
At the risk of trying to be humorous within this tragic situation that happened to my good friend Alan; a Lawrence Co. 4-H life time member, in his younger days a needmore hilltopper, a terrific educator, an entrepreneur and an outstanding cattleman, the one thing everyone might not know is that Alan was also one of Lawrence County’s premiere Hog Producers as evidenced by his feeder pig purchase at the Springville Feeder Auction in the Spring of 1961. His father Don and his grandfather Felix also purchased feeder pigs with him that day.
Alan might be moving on to bigger and greater things but one cannot help but stop and notice all the lasting memories that Alan created while he was here! My prayers go out to all!

In spite of all I was going through as a young girl and the kids not understanding Mr. Armstrong was a blessing to have as my teacher. He supported me and helped me as much as he could. I was very happy to have him as my teacher.
Also I ran into him at his retirement party and he was very nice and remembered me after all these years and took a picture with me, such a kind man!!

Mr. Armstrong was my 4th grade teacher at Lakeview Elementary. He was my favorite teacher and part of the reason I chose to pursue a 10 year career in Early Childhood Education and achieve a degree in Early Childhood. Mr. Armstrong wasn't only an amazing teacher, hut he truly cared about me as a student. I remember he would call my dad after school hours just to give him the "latest gossip" on what his daughter had been up to and what boys she talked to. Haha! He and my dad had a great trusting relationship and I feel well loved and cared for during that year in school. I am going to miss seeing his smiling face when I'd pass by him near his farm. He will never be forgotten by many and he was well loved on life. Thank you for giving such care to your students Mr. Armstrong, you were loved and respected by so many children who grew up to be loving and respectful adults who have never forgotten you.

We live on adjoining land and inevitably a cow or 6 or 8 would escape a few times a year. We would look up and they’d be eating in our yard. I would call Alan and say “I think your cows are in our yard. No hurry they’re not bothering anything”. A little bit later and he would come driving down the road in his ol’ farm truck and as soon as the cows heard that truck they were looking for him. He would smile, tell me sorry for the trouble, and wave as he left, with the cows trailing behind him. I’m so sorry for your loss. As much as it broke my heart to hear of his passing, I can only imagine how crushed yours is. Alan was a great man and always had a big smile on his face. He will be greatly missed.
