Obituary of Kenneth W. Root

Bedford – Kenneth W. Root, 90, of Bedford, died at 8:47 pm on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at his residence.

Born August 5, 1927 in Bedford, he was the son of Robert F. and Minnie (Shirley) Root. He married Dorothy June Blunk on September 13, 1948 and she preceded him in death on May 4, 1989. He retired as a pipefitter from General Motors in Bedford and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during WW II.

Survivors include a son, Tony Root, of Bedford; two daughters, Bobbette Root and Dawn Kluesner, both of Bedford; a grandson, Dustin Kluesner; a granddaughter, Cinnamon Kelley; a great grandson, Shawn Kluesner; a great-granddaughter, Bailee Kelley; a sister, Evelyn McGregor, of Bedford; a brother, Bob Root, of Bedford; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a son, Gerald Wayne “Gary” Root; two sisters, Mildred Fields and Roberta Kerr.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Saturday, August 4^th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Dr. Bob Courson officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, August 3^rd and from 11:00 am until the hour of service on Saturday, August 4^th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
