Obituary of Edmund Laverne Doane

Bedford – Edmund Laverne (Tuck) Doane, 85, of Bedford, died at 7:46 pm on Friday, April 20, 2018 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Sullivan, IN.

Born June 19, 1932 in Huron, IN, he was the son of Kenneth and Eupha (King) Doane. He married Marie “Janet” Perry and she preceded him in death on June 22, 2002. He was a sign painter and accomplished artist. He retired from General Motors. A member of the Oatman, AZ Ghost Riders and McKnight Rangers in French Lick, he was an avid old west reenactor and gunfighter. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War where he was awarded the Bronze Star.

Survivors include children, Michael Doane and wife, Laurie, of Bedford, Leann Pace and husband, Bruce, of Winchester, KY, Amy Hamilton and husband, Robert, of Bedford, and Melissa Rinehart and husband, Charles, of Sullivan, IN; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a son, Roger Doane, and a grandson, Kenneth May.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Gillen Post #33 American Legion at 3:00 pm on Saturday, May 5th. The family asks that friends consider memorial contributions be made to Shriner’s Children’s Hospital or the Indiana Railway Museum in French Lick, IN.
