Obituary of Jess H. Kinder

Bedford Jess H. Kinder, 77, of 903 Lincoln Ave., Bedford, passed away at 10:30 pm on Sunday, August 26, 2007 at his residence after an illness with colon cancer. Born in Springville, IN on December 23, 1929, he was the son of Walter J. and Mabel M. (Kesler) Kinder. He married Phyllis Prow on February 28, 1954 at the First Christian Church in Bedford and she survives. Jess was the owner and operator of Kinder Tune-Up for over fifty years. He served on the Bedford City Council and Planning Commission for sixteen years. He was a member of the Bedford Masonic Lodge #14 F & AM and a member of the First Baptist Church in Bedford for over forty years where he had served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. Jess loved his church very much. He served in the Indiana National Guard for ten years with the rank of Sergeant First Class. Jess graduated from Shawswick High School with the class of 1949. Surviving with his wife, Phyllis is one brother, Charles Kinder and his wife, Maxine of Indianapolis, IN; three sisters-in-law, Mary Kinder of Indianapolis, IN, Mary Elkins and Vicky Woody and her husband, Jon all of Bedford; two brothers-in-law, Dwight Prow and his wife, Cleda and Kenny Prow and his wife, Barbara all of Bedford; several nieces and nephews including his special caregivers, Larry and Connie Kinder. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Walter and Donald Kinder. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Friday, August 31st at the First Baptist Church in Bedford with Dr. Kregg Burris officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, August 30th at the church and from 11:00 am until the hour of service n Friday, August 31st at the church. Masonic services will be conducted at 7:30 pm on Thursday by members of the Bedford Masonic Lodge #14 F & AM. Donations Information The family asks that friends consider memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund or the White River Humane Society.
