Obituary of Catheleen Nelson

Oolitic – Catheleen Nelson, 80, of Oolitic, died at 7:19 pm on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at I.U. Health Bloomington Hospital.

Born December 10, 1936 in Lawrence Co., she was the daughter of Roy and Winnie (Godsey) Cheek. She married Conrad Nelson on June 13, 1953 and he survives. She retired from the Indiana Laborers Institute in 1981 and was a member of the Oolitic Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Conrad, of Oolitic; two daughters, Connie Elaine Nelson (Terry Walden), of Bloomington, Sherri Lynn Nelson, of Jeffersonville; a son, Oman Lee Nelson (Madelyn), of Springville; grandchildren, Christopher Nelson (Lauren), Jordan Manning (Angel Haley), Austin Manning, Brady Manion, all of Bedford, Amy Hewitt (Lane), of Mitchell; great grandchildren, Caitlyn Hewitt, Alexis Nelson, Gabriel Nelson, Hadley Manning,  Hattie Nelson; a sister, Rosalie Hammond, of Bedford; a brother, Dale Cheek (Brenda), of Monticello, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Sandra Leigh Nelson; three sisters, Effie Grace, Nola Mae Ingle and Lola Faye Carter; two brothers, Franklin and Raymond D. Cheek.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 1st in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Richard Tallman officiating. Burial will follow in Dive Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, October 31st at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
